Children

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Mark 10:14

The children of LJCC are having a blast while growing in their knowledge and love of the Lord. Our program is designed to provide children a solid, Christian foundation, while also training them to be active participants in our church body.

We look forward to getting to know your children!

Birth-5 Year-Olds

Sunday Mornings -- On Sunday mornings, these precious little ones can be checked directly into their Sunday morning room before the worship service begins. Their normal room is the La Jolla Canyon room, located near the escalators.

While you are enjoying worship, your child will get to sing, play, color, have a snack, hear a Bible lesson, and talk with “Cheesy,” our (puppet) mouse friend.

Safety Procedures
-- When checking in your children, please make sure to get a pager. This provides us with a quick, direct way to contact you as well as a way to verify we are releasing your child to an authorized person.

K-6th Grade

Sunday mornings -- One of the first things you may notice about LJCC is that kids begin Sunday mornings in the worship service with their parents. We have purposely chosen to have children in worship because we believe this will help equip people, both young and old, to love and serve Jesus Christ.

Most weeks, our children will leave halfway through the service.  This allows the kids to hear lessons and play games that are more age applicable.  After hearing a lesson in a large group setting, children break out into small groups (usually based on grade) to discuss how the topic applies to their lives.

Safety Procedures -- It is important to note that before you enter the service with your child, you must check them in.  Part of the check-in procedure requires them to wear a wristband. These wristbands help us to quickly identify which kids are with us. There is a stub that rips off the wristband which parents should keep. At the end of the service the children’s program runs an extra 10 minutes, giving parents the opportunity to enjoy a fellowship time with other adults. Before we can release your child, you will need to come check them out with either a pager or wrist band stub.

Parents and Volunteers

The Bible teaches us that when we are faithful to bring our small and humble offerings, He can use them to do very big thing. Working with children will often make that truth evident. Sometimes just a smile, a word of encouragement, or sharing a laugh with a child can make a world of difference…especially when they can tell you don’t have to be there, but desire to be there.

Can you smile, say something nice, laugh, or make a commitment to be in a room for about an hour once a month? It doesn’t take much!

Recruiting continues for our ministry year, and we're counting on you to step forward and help us out.  In order to care for and provide a safe and loving environment for our kids to grow in their faith, we have a need for about 50 volunteers. We need check-in people, greeters, music leaders, actors, large group lesson leaders, small group leaders and crafts coordinators.  Would you prayerfully consider filling one of those spots?

Please take some time over the next few weeks and ask God where He wants you to serve this next year. If it’s in Children’s Ministry, few things would thrill me more! If it is in another area, please let me know how I can support you as you further God’s kingdom, even if God leads you to serve in another area. Thanks for praying through this.
