Women

Women

The purpose of LJCC's Women’s Ministry is to encourage and support women of all ages and backgrounds no matter where they are in their faith. All of our women's social events, retreats and Bible studies are designed to bring women closer to Christ and to one other. Be sure to check out our All-Church Calendar or sign-up to receive our weekly emails so you won't miss out!

Annual Retreat

Our annual two-day retreat is held in the fall. What a great way to get away from it all and unwind in a beautiful setting amidst friends young and old. Dynamic speakers are brought in to lead us, inspiring worship leaders come to inspire us and all who attend leave the weekend with a greater understanding of who God is, how much he loves us, and where we might want to go next on our journey serving and loving him.

Spring Radical Sabbatical, May 5th

Ladies, if you missed our Fall Sojourn last year or just want to hear Judy Hampton speak again, then you are in for a special treat in Spring 2012. Back by popular demand, we have expanded our ‘Be Still…At the Crossroads’ series and have added the third and final installment! Only this time…we are kicking it up a notch and going radical! Join us on Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 9 am to 12:30 pm for a Spring Radical Sabbatical and hear Judy talk about “EXPERIENCING RADICAL CONTENTMENT IN A CROWDED HEART”. Come prepared to be spiritually uplifted and to laugh a lot with your sisters in Christ! Following the speaking agenda, we will have an optional Mexican-themed potluck. Details to come!

Social Events

About twice a year, LJCC women get together for casual social events that are strictly designed for fellowship and fun. Past events have taken us to the beach for a "Sunset Soiree", to a lovely La Jolla home and to our church sanctuary for a good old-fashioned potluck among friends. Stay tuned for info on our next gathering!

Healthy Relationships, God's Way

As women, we have an often unspoken, deeply held love for those close to us, yet we carry the burdens of life on our own shoulders. When our burdens are too heavy and we become emotionally and spiritually depleted, we sometimes seek unhealthy methods for coping. Please know that you are not alone. Join Lindy Seaman, LCSW and other women of LJCC in sharing hearts, discussing ideas, learning fresh perspectives, connecting to resources you may not be aware of and together we will grow. In sharing and learning we don’t go it alone, we become more effective in dealing with whatever we may be facing—whether it be emotional pain associated to relational issues, loss, grief, or addictions. Open your heart to the healing power of Jesus Christ. Healthy Relationships, God's Way is focused on Christian principles. To join the group or to learn more, contact Lindy Seaman at (858) 349-0729 or starrseaman@yahoo.com

Walk 'N' ROC

Once a month, LJCC women, their friends and family members get together for a walk. The group changes each time, but regardless of who is able to come, we all leave recharged and better for it. We walk, talk, enjoy each other’s company and the beauty of the trails and ocean, getting away from it all and growing closer to God. Locations and times to be determined. For more info or to carpool, email Carolyn Scott at carolyn.scott@lw.com. We hope you can join us!

We have a hike scheduled for Saturday, February 4th at 9:30 am after the casual "Coffee Break" at Caroline's Seaside Cafe.

Community Bible Study

We invite all women to join Community Bible Study (CBS), an in-depth 30-week Bible study for women of all ages and stages and denominations. Mary Rumsey leads the study which starts on September 15th, 2011 and runs through June 2012 at La Jolla Presbyterian Church. The study this year will be centered on the book of Isaiah. Meet at 7715 Draper Avenue on Thursday mornings from 10 am to noon. Childcare is provided for infants through nursery age. Dynamic children's program for pre-schoolers. Plus, Babes-in-Arms for nursing mothers. For more information, contact Jane Lahre (858) 271-6503 or janelcbs@gmail.com.

Bible Study Fellowship International

A number of LJCC women attend Bible Study Fellowship regularly. BSF is an international women’s Bible study that meets on Monday evenings from 6:55 pm to 8:50 pm at First Presbyterian Church downtown. This past September they started a 30-week study on the Acts of the Apostles. Join in on discussion groups where insights are shared and hear expository lectures with applications for daily living. Learn more about it by going to www.bsfinternational.org. Begin attending at any time! Children’s program available.
