C.O.R.E. Membership Class Saturday, February 6th

Joining the church as a member demonstrates your commitment to following Jesus in the company of fellow believers and helping our church fulfill its God-given purpose. As a member, you are given a sense of ownership in the church. In essence you are saying, “I desire to play an active role in implementing the vision of LJCC and I know my role is valued.”

Whether you simply want to learn about LJCC's core beliefs, vision, mission and values or you desire to become a member of LJCC, this class provides all you need to know to get connected into the life of the church and deepen your walk with Jesus.

To register, please sign up on the patio on Sundays or contact Michelle Le Beau, Director of Community Life, at 858-558-9020, ext 203 or via email at or via email.

About Membership

Membership is an expression of faith which is expressed in our relationship with Jesus Christ and His people. At La Jolla Community Church, membership is synonymous with involvement. Everyone is welcome to be part of La Jolla Community Church but one does not have to be a member to participate in the life of the LJCC congregation.

Why Become a Member?

1. To express your commitment to following Jesus. We endeavor to be disciplined followers of Jesus Christ. We depend on the Holy Spirit to transform us into people who love God with all our being and who love people so much that we cannot help but be mission-minded. As committed followers of Jesus, we submit to His lordship and trust Him with our whole life on a daily basis. As disciples, we want to learn everything Jesus teaches us about life in the Kingdom of God, now and forever.

2. To express your commitment to helping the church fulfill its God-given purpose. As a member, you’re given a sense of ownership in the church. In essence, you’re saying, “I desire to play an active role in implementing the vision of LJCC, and I know my role is valued.” As a member of LJCC, you’ll feel the excitement and joy of knowing you are an integral, valued member of the LJCC family – one body of people working together to help LJCC be a highly effective movement for Christ in San Diego and beyond.

What is Required for Membership?

1. Accepting and acknowledging Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord.

2. The mission of La Jolla Community Church is to help people grow in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ and with fellow Christians in practical love for all people. It is essential that as a member, you have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to serving others.

3. We believe that the Bible is clear about God's desire for each of us to have a public profession of faith through baptism. Some important truths about baptism: Baptism is a sign and seal of God's redemptive work in Jesus Christ. Baptism is the outward, public expression of the inward, personal work of God in the life of a believer. Baptism is a symbol and seal of what God does in bringing salvation to each person who receives Him by faith. The mode of baptism is less important than what it means for those being baptized.

Believers need only be baptized once (we honor prior baptisms), though some believers find it meaningful to commemorate their baptism if they were originally baptized as infants. In the case of infants, we will baptize or dedicate depending on the wishes of the parents. One parent must be a believer in order for us to baptize or dedicate the child since this act is a commitment by the parent on behalf of the child.

4. Together we make a difference. As Christians, it is our privilege to be able to make a difference in our church, our community, and the world around us. As a member of LJCC, we want you to become alive in Christ at La Jolla Community Church through involvement in mission work, caring ministries, and/or small group participation.

5. The Lord our God has blessed us with financial resources, however modest, and He wants us to manage them faithfully, wisely, and in accordance with biblical principles. The Holy Bible says we are to honor Him with our "first fruits" and then bless others with our abundance. We will ask you to commit to expressing your gratitude for all that God has entrusted to you by making an annual financial commitment to our church in the form of a faith commitment.
