When we accept Jesus into our hearts as our personal Lord and Savior, God gives us salvation and the hope of eternity in heaven. He also gives us purpose and significance in our lives. He gives each of us the opportunity to serve others and make a real difference in our community. When you serve others in Jesus' name, you’re ministering!
God didn't design ministry for just a few people. Every member of our church is a minister in some way, shape or form, and that includes you!
At La Jolla Community Church, we're here to help guide you in discovering how your spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality, and experiences (SHAPE) in life can be used by God to mold you for serving. When you serve according to your SHAPE, you will discover that you are not only building up the church (the Body of Christ), but you will receive great joy in life as a result.
So, here’s what we encourage everyone to do:
#1) Complete the 2-Part SHAPE Profile!
While we prefer you complete the profile online (easier for us to input the results in our church management program), hard
copies are also available at the church or you can download them here. You will receive a special gift at the Serving Opportunities Table on Sundays once you've completed both parts! Read more about SHAPE and how the church benefits from knowing yours!
#2) Commit to using your SHAPE in ministry!
Start serving on one of over 100 LJCC Ministry Teams. Take a 90-Day “test drive” serving on a team of your choice — one that suits your SHAPE for ministry and your desired commitment level. Our new Serving Opportunities booklet will be available on July 3, 2011. You may also meet with one of our SHAPE Discovery Leaders in August to discuss your SHAPE and explore opportunities.
