Prayer has been an essential part of LJCC since even before our church started! When the Steering Committee began its weekly meetings in February 2005 to plant a church, prayer time was a central focus as we prayed for the Lord's leading, guidance and wisdom in our endeavor. A separate prayer ministry emerged with a group of people meeting weekly for prayer as we prepared for our launch on September 11, 2005. God has blessed LJCC every step of the way, and He has taught us to trust Him and His timing. Our fervent prayers as individuals and as a dynamic group continue steadfastly to this day.
Prayer is a powerful way to stay in touch with our Father. We believe in praying for LJCC, its needs, leaders and growth. It is especially important for all of us to pray for each other.
Email Prayer Chain
The Prayer Team gathers all prayer requests from Sunday and then sends them by email to the over 40 "prayer warriors" on our prayer chain, who are all faithful and obedient in keeping every prayer confidential.
One of the traditions for communion Sunday at La Jolla Community Church is having people write prayer requests or praises to God on sticky notes and place them on our beautiful wooden cross. Many people may not know this, but every message laid on that cross gets prayed for by the prayer team.

Tuesday Open Prayer Sessions
Every Tuesday morning, a group of people gathers in our sanctuary from 9:30 am to 10:30 am to pray for the needs of our congregation, our church, our city, our country, and the world. All are invited to join them! Contact Pat MacCracken for info at rmaccra1@san.rr.com.
Sunday Intercessory Prayer
Members of our Prayer Team are available on Sunday mornings in between services to pray with anyone who would like one-on-one prayer. For information contact Liz Huddleston at liz.h@earthlink.net.
Listening Prayer Classes
LJCC member Lisa Newmeyer leads regular classes at our church on Listening Prayer. How do you hear from God? How do you discern what you're hearing? What do you do with what you hear? God wants an intimate relationship with us -- one that involves two-way conversation! Lisa uses her nearly 20 years of training on this topic to help people enter into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer. For more information on upcoming classes, email Lisa.
Annual Prayer Vigil (May 21-22)
Every year, LJCC offers a Vigil to coincide with Pentecost. Throughout the vigil, every single person in our church is prayed over multiple times by those who come to pray. There are also stations set up for journaling, kneeling before the cross in prayer, and praying with others. Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to bring your requests and praises before the Lord in prayer. All ages are welcome! Come out to LJCC on Friday, May 21 from 8 am - 10 pm and again on Saturday, May 22 from 8 am - 1 pm.
Prayer Garden
Due to a generous gift from an anonymous donor, we have our very own Prayer Garden on the north side of our sanctuary. Special care has been put into designing this garden as a beautiful, quiet place for prayer and meditation. Special features include a seating area, a cross, a fountain and plants native to Israel. Be sure to visit this area!
Prayer Shawl Ministry
The Prayer Shawl Ministry knits prayer shawls for members of the congregation. To date, over 25 prayer shawls have been made!
When the shawl is given, it is given with a prayer. The prayer will tell a story of the shawl. The stitches used are knit in three to represent the Trinity and while making the shawl, we will pray for the person that will receive the shawl. We pray that the receiver feels God's love, is cradled in comfort, hope and joy, and graced with peace and love. For more information or to get involved, please contact Pat MacCracken at (858) 454-6682 or rmaccra1@san.rr.com.
