Evelyn de Villiers, Ph.D.

Evelyn de Villiers

As a Christian psychologist, Dr. de Villiers is most interested in providing a warm, safe, sensitive and empathic environment for clients while at the same time supporting, challenging, encouraging and sometimes confronting their current issues at hand. Special factors unique to her practice are that she specializes in relationship/couples therapy, divorce prevention and recovery, remarriage and blended families, and parenting children. She also has a general clinical practice where she treats clients suffering from depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders. She is a certified member with the International Board of Professional Christian Counselors and a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. She is also a member of the San Diego Psychological Association, American Psychological Association, a professional affiliate of the Stepfamily Association of America, and the Christian Care Network. She has taught classes or given presentations at local Churches and schools on various topics including Depression, Substance Abuse and the Adolescent Brain, Divorce Recovery, Blended Families, Cloud and Townsend’s “Safe People” and “Boundaries” resources.

Shannon Gilbride

Shannon GilbrideShannon Gilbride is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFC # 46373) at Pacific Beach Counseling. Shannon provides individual, family, and group psychotherapy for adults and teenagers, as well as premarital counseling for couples. Her clinical approach is a form of depth psychology which seeks to bring about lasting change by increasing self awareness in the context of a life-giving therapeutic relationship. Shannon’s areas of specialty include: depression, anxiety, eating disorders, grief/loss, sexual abuse, trauma, relationship problems, family conflict, and spiritual issues. 

In addition to private practice, Shannon has taught as a faculty member at Point Loma Nazarene University and provided counseling services at a non-profit agency, a residential crisis house, and various high schools in the San Diego area. Shannon earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the Graduate School of Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary.

 David Hendrick

David HendrickDavid Hendrick is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and has been a co-director of Pacific Beach Counseling since 1985. Working from a developmental, depth perspective with adult individuals and couples, David’s areas of specialty include working with clergy, relationship issues, advanced recovery issues, chemical dependency and male sexual compulsivity. David is a clinical facilitator with Henry Cloud and John Townsend’s Ultimate Leadership Intensives. He offers conflict resolution, leadership training and consultation with Christian organizations. David works with athletes and business executives to raise their standards of excellence both personally and professionally.

 Stephanie Nigh

Stephanie NighStephanie Nigh, licensed Marriage, Family, Child Therapist, has co-directed Pacific Beach Counseling with her husband, David Hendrick, since 1985. Stephanie works from a developmental, depth perspective with adult individuals, couples and adolescents. Her areas of specialty include relationship issues, attachment, anxiety, depression, grief, loss, obsessive/compulsivity, sexual dysfunction and trauma (EMDR). Stephanie’s collaborative approach strengthens patterns for change and growth while addressing each client’s specific concerns. Stephanie provides groups for clergy, helping professionals and business leaders. Through Creative Leadership Dynamics, she offers consultation, executive coaching and conflict resolution to faith-based organizations. Stephanie is a clinical facilitator for Cloud/ Townsend’s Leadership Training Intensives and a graduate of SDPSI's Advanced Psychotherapy Training and offers professional consultation to licensed therapists. Pacific Beach Counseling provides an advanced therapy approach to meet the needs of high functioning individuals, professionals, and couples. We have offices in North County, Chula Vista and Pacific Beach.

 Marti Peck, Ph. D.

Dr. Marti Peck is a licensed Clinical Psychologist since 1991, and also certified in Adult Psychoanalysis by the American Psychoanalytic Association. She is currently in private practice in the Old Town (Central) area of San Diego County, close to Downtown and Mission Valley.
She is an active  member of the San Diego Psychological Association,  American Psychological Association, International Psychoanalytic Association, American Psychoanalytic Association, and a Senior Faculty Member at the San Diego Psychoanalytic Society and Institute.

Dr. Peck provides both short-term and long-term professional/therapeutic services to Christian and non-Christian adult individuals and couples, through psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, which is a form of intensive, longer-term treatment found to be beneficial to individuals desiring to change lifelong, deeply engrained patterns characteristic in one's personality. Clinically, she treats depressive and anxiety disorders, sexual abuse, post-traumatic stress, alcohol/substance abuse, eating disorders and grief/loss. She is currently a contracted provider on the panels of Aetna and Anthem Blue Cross insurance.

 Gina M Taffi, Ph.D.

Gina Taffi

Dr. Gina M Taffi is a Christian Psychologist with 19 years of clinical experience that specializes in the treatment of Eating Disorders, Relationships, Anxiety or Fears, and Depression. Psychoanalysis is her main method of treatment. Additional areas of specialization include women's/men's issues, marital counseling, panic attacks, and trauma/PTSD. She is a member of the Christian Care Network, International Association for Psychoanalytic Self Psychology, National Eating Disorders Association, and the International Asssociation for Relational Psychoanalysis. In addition, Gina is an approved referral source for Focus on the Family. Gina's philosophy is to focus not just on past experiences, but also on the here-and-now of an individual's experiences and relationships. Attachment, separations, and losses beginning in infancy influence one's personality, as do current contexts of living, loving, and working.
