    Grace finds beauty in everything.

Laure-anne and I met in 1990 in London and within days of meeting, my life forever changed. She was a bright light, shinning with goodness and kindness unlike anyone I had ever met. She made me want to be a better person. She was (and is) like an angel who arrived at my side, assigned to help me become the man God wanted me to be. She tells the story of how she prayed for me to come into her life, how she prayed for the life she has. And as I look back today, this was the first time I experienced Gods grace in my life. He changed the direction of my life through Laure-anne.

We moved to Laure-annes hometown of La Jolla in 1991 with two suitcases and a life ahead of us. We started with nothing materialistically (by western standards) and a foundation built on the love from our first year together in London. Our family story has been full of blessings, we have three amazing children, we live in La Jolla, and we have traveled as a couple on a journey from living an unconscious to a conscious marriage a gift from God. My faith has grown through His love, evident in every step with Laure-anne as my best friend, my wife and the mother of my children.

From the minute I got off the plane, Ive been on a path to build a business and provide a life for our family. Its been a tough road, working long, long days and traveling back and forth across the country more times than I can remember. It became a bit of a blur, and there was a point were I was really searching for meaning professionally.

In late 2002, I was introduced to Steve Haas at World Vision through Steve Murray, and became an instant Haas fan. I was invited to visit Johannesburg and Malawi in 2003 to attend an Aids roundtable, and to visit World Visions work in Malawi. This trip changed my life. I got to see, smell, witness, talk to, eat with, visit with some of the most wonderful people that Ive had the pleasure of meeting. You go thinking you can help, that you might be able to change things, when in fact you come away realizing that it's you who has been fundamentally changed. How can you not when you see people with such joy in their hearts in the midst of suffering, when they have so little materialistically yet they have so much spiritually.

God works in mysterious ways, and I left this trip with a very clear understanding of what I should spend a good portion of my professional life doing: developing ideas and relationships that make a positive difference in other peoples lives. They say you leave a piece of yourself in Africa, and I believe that. But I also believe God replaces that thing you leave behind with something more powerful.
